We enable communities to shift their focus from the uncertainty of their next meal, to the possibilities of the next generation.

Our approach to Food Security and Livelihoods programming in Africa

We believe that achieving sustainable food systems is key to building a thriving future. Through our Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL) programmes, we work with vulnerable communities across Africa to address immediate hunger, while equipping them with the tools and knowledge to build resilience. Our focus is on enabling communities to become self-sufficient, ensuring they have the capacity to thrive despite ongoing challenges like extreme weather events and economic instability.

Providing food assistance and crisis modifiers like targeted cash transfers to bridge hunger gaps and help families maintain consumption levels during emergencies.

Climate-smart and nutrition-sensitive agriculture

Training farmers in sustainable practices, supporting climate-adapted crops, providing tools and post-harvest support to improve food security and nutrition outcomes.

Market systems development

Facilitating connections between producers and markets, supporting value chains, and promoting inclusive, accessible market systems.

Livelihood diversification

Offering gender-sensitive and off-farm livelihood options to reduce reliance on vulnerable sources of income and promote local value chains.
