Empower 20 million Africans to sustainably provide for themselves by 2032.

Health and Nutrition

Strengthening Health, Saving Lives. We provide life-saving health and nutrition services to build resilient, healthier communities across Africa.

The health and nutrition of a community are deeply interconnected aspects that can’t be tackled in isolation.

Our approach to Health and Nutrition programming in Africa

Health and nutrition are at the heart of strong, thriving communities. ForAfrika’s programmes focus on delivering life-saving care to the most vulnerable, addressing urgent health needs while building the foundation for long-term resilience. By improving maternal and child health, combating malnutrition, and equipping local health systems with the tools and training they need, we ensure that communities can sustain their own health and well-being.

Key objectives of our Health and Nutrition programming

Health ForAfrika is driving positive health outcomes, creating healthier futures for communities across Africa.

Healthier communities

Expanding healthcare access and timely treatment reduces preventable diseases, building stronger, healthier communities.

Fighting malnutrition

Early detection and treatment improve recovery for children and pregnant women, securing a healthier future for vulnerable groups.

Healthier mothers and children

Antenatal and postnatal care ensure safer pregnancies and healthier starts for newborns, lowering mortality rates.

Resilient health systems

By providing equipment, medicines, and training, we ensure communities receive sustained care, even during crises.

Key interventions of our Health and Nutrition programming

Nutrition

Through our community-based approach, we provide therapeutic foods and early detection to treat malnutrition at home, reducing hospitalisation and empowering families to manage malnutrition sustainably.

Maternal and child health

We prioritise maternal and child health by offering growth monitoring, immunisations, micronutrient supplementation, and promoting breastfeeding. ForAfrika-funded neonatal units and maternity wards save the lives of premature infants and mothers with post-childbirth complications.

Strengthening health systems

Our targeted health system interventions align with the World Health Organization’s building blocks, enhancing the quality and accessibility of healthcare. We focus on capacity building, local ownership, and sustainable solutions to improve access to reproductive, maternal, and child health services.
