Why we chose ForAfrika
Because we are Africans working together for Africa, we needed our name to reflect who we are and what we do.
So, after nearly two years of research, speaking to our donors, our staff and going through a creative process, we are thrilled to share our new brand with you.
The meaning behind our logo
The symbol in our logo, while resembling the map of Africa, was also inspired by ancient African mud cloth paintings and the bomas (fenced enclosure built to protect homesteads and livestock) that dot the African landscape when viewed from above. The mud cloth symbol we chose is said to show the love of family and community. The circle represents the house and the dot in the middle is the family. Our symbol represents our love for the families and communities of our continent and the hedge of protection we aim to provide, to allow thriving to incubate. Lastly, the dot now sits on top of the i to represent the commitment that “I” will stand in the gap for the family.
The mud cloth pattern we chose reflects the love of family and community.
The central dot has been placed over the ‘i’ in ForAfrika to represent the power of individuals willing to say, “I will stand for Africa.”

Why we use the k in ForAfrika
We have used the K in our new name because this is how African’s originally spelt the continents name and still do today, in fact many of our languages don’t even have the letter C in their alphabets. So the K in ForAfrika is a symbol of a redemptive journey, one where the abundant resources of Africa are used for her people to thrive.
The name is for everyone
The name is not just for Africans. ForAfrika is unifying and powerful, no matter where you live in the world. We can all be for Africa. In fact, we believe Africa is the future and that one day Africa will feed the world, power the world and show the world how to live in community.
For now, Africa is still the poorest continent and will be hardest hit by an ever-changing climate and food shortages, exacerbated by the war in Ukraine. We are seeing increased commodity prices which is directly affecting food security for the vulnerable communities on our continent.
Africa needs you now more than ever.
