Families are grappling with the harsh reality of displacement, loss, and uncertainty. Many are left without shelter, food and the necessities needed to survive.

Disaster overview

Gale-force winds, heavy rain and flooding in the Western Cape Province of South Africa over the weekend damaged almost 3,000 homes and businesses causing people to seek shelter with neighbours and family. Many have lost their homes, food and essential belongings.

Working under the guidance of the provincial Disaster Risk Management committee and with other partners, ForAfrika has procured food hampers and blankets for distribution to the most vulnerable people in the area.
