The north coast of the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa was hit by a devastating tornado on Monday, June 3. At least 12 people died, dozens have been injured and more than 1,200 have been displaced from their homes. Schools, roads, healthcare facilities and community venues have also been affected.
At around the same time, in Nelson Mandela Bay, in the Eastern Cape, torrential rain and floods killed at least 10 people and left more than 1,000 displaced.
